Election day, and I was going to vote--even went to my polling place, only to find out in municipal elections I had to go to my precinct and vote there. So I didn't, but not for that reason alone. Mostly, it was because I wasn't informed.

See, I don't subscribe to the local newspapers, although I try to scan them online as often as I can. But I am not involved in the community, I don't know any of the candidates, and I do not know what their positions are or what the issues are. I blame me, but there's enough blame to go around.

Not pointing fingers, but I spent some time two weeks ago trying to read up on some of those running for mayor and city council. I found little to no information on them. A couple of them had FB pages but had no "position papers" or any discussion on the issues, or why I should vote for them versus their opponents. Some of them, I couldn't find any information at all, except that they had filed the necessary paperwork to run for office.

Which made me think--I know what I believe, but do others know what I believe? Unless I tell them, they won't. They may think they do--oh, if he's a Christian he must believe this.... Maybe I do, but maybe I don't

Anyway, I'm-a gonna try to blog about some of the things I believe about Jesus and his church. Even if no one reads this blog, doing this focuses my mind on some spiritual issues. Sometimes when I read what I've written or said, it almost seems like someone else wrote it--I shake my head and think "Me, a minister? Me, talking about spiritual things? Me?" Come along for the bumpy ride! At least you will be informed as to where I stand.
