Let's See How This Goes!

Like I said the other day, I'm a-gonna try. Let's think about the question of origins. Everything has a beginning, right? After all, here we are as persons--and we haven't always been here. We celebrate birthdays to remind us of that fact.
We came from our parents, but where did they come from? And their parents? And theirs? How did all this begin?
Now of course we weren't there, and it could be wrong, but think about the first four words of the Bible. "In the beginning, God...." Creation and all of life had a beginning. God was there at the beginning, and he created it all. But the big question is, "who created God?" "Where did he come from?"
This is something we cannot get beyond or wrap our minds around. God is the uncreated Creator, the One without beginning of days, the Eternal being. If he wasn't there, then creation would have had to be there. How could there be nothing, nothing at all, and then have something?
So as to the question of origins, either God has always been or creation has always been. If creation has always been, then we are only physical beings with no spiritual side. How can physical things create nonphysical, spiritual things? And, if that's true, then how are we able to think, to feel, have a conscience? If we have merely evolved, then we are not really different from our "simian ancestors"--yet we act as if we are different. And too, if there is no God, then there is no judgment/heaven/hell/moral code to live up to, no need for a cross, atonement, resurrection.
As I do when I write people who ask me questions, I am rambling. But I hope I have said enough to let you know one of the things I believe--the universe did have a beginning, it is not eternal--only God is, and he created it, and us.
